Oriflame Kohl Pencil – Product Review

Hey guys, now I’m gonna review my super awesome eyeliner, Oriflame Kohl Pencil. I bought it on quite a long time ago on September 2014 or something, and it has been one of my most-wear items in my daily make-up kit J I got it for Rp. 50.000, though in the catalogue it said Rp. 55.000, because the one selling it is my best friend in high school.

Oriflame Kohl Pencil

So, it’s a black pencil eyeliner, 1.3 g or 0.04 oz, and it said, “untuk tata rias bagian mata” or “eye make-up”. It’s made in Germany. It has a lid so that it doesn’t make a mess in your make up box. I like the design; it’s just plain black with silver writings. C’est très élégant. But I would prefer it if they didn’t stick a sticker of the ingredients diagonally on the lid like that. They should stick it straight or have it printed in silver like the rest of the writing instead.

The texture is soft, which makes it easy to use. The wood is also good quality so it’s easy to sharpen, but you have to clean your sharpener afterwards because some of the black core of the pencil will stick to it. I don’t know if it’ll make a difference in special sharpeners for make-up but I just use a regular pencil sharpener.
I found that it’s quite long-lasting. Usually I would wear it at 6 a.m. before going to my university, and it would stay on my eyes until the afternoon. From my experience, if you want it to stick longer, you have to make sure that the pencil’s sharp. Then, apply a bit of eye shadow (I would usually use a nude color) over the eye line. That will make it stay longer.
I tried using this eyeliner while it’s blunt (to save it so I don’t have to buy another so soon :p ) but the results are not as good. It will make it easier to smudge and the line won’t be as neat. But even so, I would still resist myself from sharpening it before it’s really blunt :p . If it smudges, I would clean my face and redraw it before the next class. Or you can just wipe the smudges with a tissue, re-apply some face powder, and redraw the lines. If you sharpen it, though, the line will be so neat it makes me surprised again and again.
To clean it, I usually use olive oil. You may use other make-up removers too, of course. But if you have a blunt line it could be wiped off with water. Be careful, it could mess up the rest of your look if you don’t clean it properly. Sometimes I find myself having dark eye circles due to not cleaning it properly. But the olive oil and cotton can wipe it clean J
Anyway, here’s the conclusion:
Plus ++
-          Soft texture, easy to use
-          High quality wood, easy to sharpen
-          Makes perfect lines when it’s sharpened
-          Lasts quite long (if you know the tricks)
-          Nice, simple design
Minus - -
-          The black core sticks on the sharpener, and it’s rather hard to clean
-          It smudges on the outer corners of the eyes if it’s not sharpened after a few hours (or if you cry)
-          It should be cleaned with special make-up removers (or in my case olive oil) to make it really clean

After all, I love this eyeliner anyway
Thick eyeliner line for a fiercer look
Thin line using the eyeliner. This photo was taken six hours after I applied it.
